|
Dive Tutukaka is the largest dedicated dive charter fleet in New Zealand. The Dive Tutukaka service enables both divers and sightseers to experience the beauty of the Poor Knights Islands, be it from the comforts of a boat, kayak or with masks and fins for the more adventurous. Back on land the Dive Centre offers full equipment hire and tank fills along with a wide range of PADI Dive courses.
For something just a little bit different you might consider a day with
OceanBlue Adventures onboard Cat Knapp. A 1 _ to 2 hour sail to the Poor Knights can be followed by a guided dive, kayak, snorkel or exploration of the many archways around the islands and Riko Riko Cave ( the world’s largest sea cave). Alternatively you might prefer to explore the stunning Tutukaka coastline and perhaps stop at Whale Bay for a picnic, swim, snorkel or kayak. With OceanBlue Adventures all snorkelling and kayak equipment is provided and scuba hire can be arranged. Catered lunches are also available.
For the serious divers you might want to consider a trip on-board Rumblefish which has been specifically designed for speed, comfort and diver-friendliness. After living and working for many years in the Egyptian Red Sea, Alex Misiewicz returned to New Zealand in 2003 as he recognized just how special the marine park at the Poor Knights was. Staggering congregations of reef fish including maomao, trevally and snapper are accompanied in summer months by schools of large kingfish, manta rays, bronze whalers and sunfish. |
